In the month of July, Peers.org launched to “mainstream, protect and grow the sharing economy”. Peers is a San Francisco based grassroots organization that supports the sharing economy movement.
On October 1, Swapsee closed a partnership agreement with Peers. Swapsee is a talent marketplace and skill-sharing platform, and as such a significant percentage of its users are active members of the sharing economy.
Commenting on the new sharing economy Jan-Willem Bode, co-founder and CEO of Swapsee says: ‘The new economy movement is about finding new ways of working and collaborating together. We at Swapsee believe that building strong sharing communities of professionals is an important pathway to the creation of happier and more beneficial work experiences for all.’
As part of the agreement, Swapsee offered to organize Dinner With Peers in Barcelona. It took place on October 16 from 8 pm to 12 am, at MOB (Calle Bailén, 11. Barcelona). Eatwith, OuiShare and MOB co-hosted the event, and Estrella Damm sponsored it. Marta Marine, Community Development and Partnerships Manager of Swapsee and also the coordinator of the event says: “The event was absolutely fantastic. Nearly 60 guests joined this potluck dinner and networking gathering. All of us got to enjoy many great dishes. Natalie Foster, Founder and Director of Peers, and Milicent Johnson, Partnerships Manager of Peers, joined us via live conference, and led a Q&A session; it was really great .” See photos of the event here: http://goo.gl/65v6Dw
